Message from the organizer:
A Celebration of Vietnamese Art and Culture will take place on Sunday, May 4th, 2014 from 5pm to 10pm. The event is hosted by the Friends of Hue Foundation. All festival proceeds will benefit the Friends of Hue Foundation Children Shelter located in central Vietnam.

The festival held at the Fairmont San Jose Hotel will feature music, art, food, and fashion. The “Ao Dai” is an elegant gown worn by Vietnamese women, which symbolizes as feminine beauty, and is the pride of the Vietnamese people. A special opening ceremony at the Circle of Palm adjacent to the Hotel with 100 models in Ao Dai and 25 drummers and 25 zither players will take place at 5pm along with the symbolic traditional wedding ceremony. In addition to the outdoor festivities, there will be an Art Symposium and Exhibit presented by local artists.

A special evening concert/theatrical fashion show will be held in the Imperial Ballroom starting at 6pm and will feature internationally renowned designers: Vo Viet Chung, Duc Hung, Khanh Shyna, Ella Viet, Nguyen Dan, Debbie Nghiem and Chau Nguyen showcasing their modern interpretations of the Ao Dai fashions. An original script developed by Dan Do tells the story of the history and mythology of the Ao Dai will feature performers and the music of Emmy Award winner Van Anh Vanessa Vo and ensemble.

Friends of Hue Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to support the welfare and safety of at-risk children in Thua Thien Hue, Vietnam. They shelter children who have been abused, neglected, abandoned or victimed from human trafficking. They are the only American NGO registered to operate a children shelter in Hue City.

The Ao Dai Festival III is our biannual fundraising. All funds donated through the event will be earmarked for the shelter budget of 2014-2015.
